Apartment Fire Ignited In Washington County

By: Lynn Lawson
Updated: November 16, 2012
WILLIAMSPORT, MD- An apartment fire broke out early Friday morning in Washington County.

Fire officials say the fire started around 8:00 a.m. on West Potomac Street in Williamsport.  Firefighters took less than 15 minutes to extinguish it. They say luckily no one was in the apartment duplex at the time.  Firefighters say they were able to keep the fire from spreading through out apartment building.

"We were very fortunate anytime we can walk away from an incident without any of our members being injured, that's our primary goal, it is to make sure, everybody goes home," says Mark Kopp, Assistant Fire Chief of Williamsport Fire Department

The State Fire Marshal's Office says they are investigating the cause of the fire.
