HAGERSTOWN, MD - Hagerstown police Thursday are investigating an armed bank robbery that happened at the Susquehanna Bank on Salem Avenue at 11:53 a.m.

Police say the two robbers entered the bank displaying handguns, jumped over the counters, and took an undetermined amount of money before fleeing the area.

They say the two men were covered from head to toe, and were wearing gloves and ski masks. Police say witnesses could only see around their eyes and were described as African American.

No one was hurt.

Salem Avenue Elementary, Western Heights Middle School, and Winter Street Elementary were on lock-down from 12:00 p.m. to 12:50 p.m. during the incident.

Police say a K-9 track led them to an area on Michigan Avenue on the west end of the city. They're asking any residents who were home around that time and saw anything suspicious to please contact them at (
301)-790-3700.
