STEPHENSON, VA - After years of denial, the owner of a Virginia pet care kennel was indicted Thursday on 13 counts of animal cruelty.

Police say Russell Ebersole is the owner of Aberdeen Acres in Stephenson, Virginia. The kennel is a grooming, training and boarding facility for dogs. Five former employees said Ebersole abused animals he was supposed to take care of.

Police say last year Ebersole responded to the allegations, saying he did nothing wrong.

In a sworn statement, the former employees said Ebersole kicked and punched the dogs and used shock collars excessively.

Police say Ebersole is due in Fredrick County Circuit Court on November 28th.
