MARTINSBURG, WV - As soon as the polling places closed, roads were blocked for the ballots to be safely brought in. Meanwhile, crowds throughout Martinsburg watched the election unfold at various venues.

"My thoughts are coming out here to watch Obama win a second term. Brought my daughter and my cousin so she can experience it," says voter Cynthia Brown.

Some watched quietly as the numbers came in at the Berkeley County Courthouse. While others went to their respective political headquarters down the street with tremendous pride.

"I am a first time voter. I'm proud and honored to be voting and really glad to be in Martinsburg. and I'm proud of it," says voter Francesco Visone.

Some of the candidates went to meet with the locals who have supported them throughout the campaign.

"Really pleased that people trust me. I like working in the community. My dad did that a long time ago. Just trying to follow the family tradition to support the community," says Berkeley County Sheriff Kenny LeMaster.

Later in the evening the atmosphere was more subdued among the Republicans. While over at the Democratic headquarters there was a lot of cheering, especially after hearing some of the local and national election results.

"Tonight went wonderful for me it was a victory for me. For all of us at the Democratic headquarters. I thank god we got what we wanted," says Shirley Ann Frye

An evening that's made its mark in the history books.
