However it's important for them to be sharp and focused, in case of an emergency like a hostage situation. On Friday, the Washington County Special Response Team engaged in a mock event at the county commissioners building, where three people held everyone hostage after a disagreement with a zoning proposal. This is a part of a week long training to prepare the team for the worst.
"Training like this is imperative, in today's training we love to train with different businesses in the area so we can be familiar with them. It's feel good to be part of a team and take care of people," says Alan Matheny of Washington County Special Response Team.
The team is made of 20 members from the Washington County Sheriff's Office and Hagerstown City Police Department.
