Students and school officials alike took shovels in hand to mark the future of new buildings and technology at the school.
Many Harpers Ferry alumni attended the event along with family members. They listened to the Jefferson County Superintendent and Congress members say how important education is to these children's future.
"This is truly a great day, as we break ground for the future, to assure that these children, and everybody that cares about these children, are assured of a quality facility, quality instruction that'll allow these children to compete in the future global market," says Mark Manchin, School Building Authority Executive Director.
Harpers Ferry Middle School choir sang a thank you to all of the educational leaders who made this school expansion possible.
