FREDERICK COUNTY, VA - A fatal shooting has left a 17-year old dead in Frederick County.

Just shortly after midnight on Thursday, police responded to a shooting that took place on Monastery Ridge Road.

When police arrived, the teen was found dead at the scene.

Police say the owner of the house was arguing with two men at his front door when one of the men shot a gun.

"There was reports of a prowler and also a shot fired and obviously the 17-year old is deceased but we're still investigating the matter as a whole," says Allen Sibert, Captain of the Frederick County Sheriff's Office.

"We don't feel that right now there's any worry for public safety, we're on top of the investigation and we'll continue to look at it," adds Sibert.

The suspects left in a large SUV and it is believed to be a Ford.

Police are not releasing the names involved in this investigation, but say family members are currently grieving over the loss of their loved one.

Both suspects are white males in their twenties. One of the suspects is about 6' tall, last seen wearing a brown jacket, blue jeans and a baseball cap. The other male was wearing blue jeans and boots.

Anyone with more information is asked to contact The Frederick County Sheriff Department at (540) 662-6162.
