Dairy Workers Continue to Strike In Front of Potomac Farms

CUMBERLAND, MD - Some dairy workers have been on strike for more than a month.

"It's rough," says Bill Bryant, on strike. "We work to make a little bit of money, but I'm out here for a reason and I believe in it."

Bryant has been out of work at Potomac Farms for over a month to go on strike. He says its been tough with only his wife's income to pay the bills. About 50 of his fellow union members are in the same position fighting for what they call is fair.

"Just being treated like a human," says David Thompson, on strike. "We're still people we're not dirt. We don't want to be treated like it."

The dairy workers have been out in front of Potomac Farms rain or shine. While they've gotten much attention from the community, they say what they want now is to meet with the company to settle a compromise.

They say the company wouldn't compromise on a pension fund or back pay. The workers haven't had a new contract since 2011 and last negotiated in June. They say the company hasn't made any efforts to talk to them even after going on strike.

We tried to contact the company, but they said no one is available.
