Melissa Jordan is one of the survivors and says, "It really drains you. You have no energy, no appetite. You just want to lay in bed. It's really bad, but being able to come out here and to see people and to enjoy food is wonderful."
Melissa says her mother-in-law, Barbara Jordan, was vital in her recovery.
"We went through all the treatments together," says Barbara. "Radiation, chemo, doctor's appointments. I more or less moved in with her during the week."
Melissa was diagnosed with breast cancer last November. She says, "When I first found out, I thought oh my God, not me."
Her fight ahead was difficult. Melissa went through seven months of chemotherapy and seven weeks of radiation.
Barbara says, "A couple weeks into her chemo, her white blood cell count went down to almost zero. She was very, very sick."
But Melissa kept fighting, even during her lowest of lows.
"Sometimes it's gonna seem like it's gonna be the end, or it's terrible but it does get better and it will get better," she says.
Now she's on the up swing, ten months and counting, Melissa is cancer free.
She'll soon be going back to work and is looking forward to her grand child's birthday and her daughter's wedding.
