Hagerstown Police Say String of Home Invasions Not Related

HAGERSTOWN, MD- With three locks and covered windows, a home on East Franklin Street was the target of a home invasion Tuesday night. Police say it could be drug-related.

"They demanded something they identified as "it," forced the male, the victim, to sit on the couch while they searched for whatever "it" is they were looking for," explains Lieutenant Thomas Langston of the Hagerstown Police Department.

Police say the two armed men entered the home through the back and ransacked it.

Investigators say Monday night, two men entered a home on the 600-block of George Street. One of them was armed, but no one was hurt.

"Both of these incidents are isolated," says Langston. "The one on Monday night the victim did know one of the suspects."

Police identified the armed man as Gary Leach. While both incidents are alarming, officials say they aren't random, and residents shouldn't feel unsafe.

"These are very isolated incidents where in most cases the victims knew the suspects or were involved in some kind of activity that would attract those type of individuals," says Langston.

No arrests have been made, but police say they have some leads.

Police say the third armed home invasion happened Tuesday night on the 100-block of Ross Street. There were no injuries.
