Pink ribbons have been hung along meters and trees to promote awareness for breast cancer throughout the four-state area. This is being done by the Breast Cancer Awareness Cumberland Valley organization. Officials say this is a way to people to learn more about the disease.
"I was 37 when I was diagnosed, I was fairly young. Most of the time that young people are not diagnosed, now we are seeing more women diagnosed in younger age. This is a great way to raise awareness of breast cancer in general," says Janet Lung, a breast cancer survivor.
The ribbons are placed in Washington, Frederick, Franklin, and Berkeley Counties, until the end of this week.
