WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD - About a hundred women biked, trekked, and paddled through Greenbrier State park for the Buff Betty Adventure Race.

Organizers want to encourage more women in adventure racing which is considered more male dominated. The goal is to navigate through a race course and find marked checkpoints in the shortest amount of time.

Some women traveled from around Maryland, Virginia, and DC to participate.

"It's just a really unique concept," says Michelle Faucher of Adventure Addicts Racing. "The sport of adventure and racing in general tends to be a more male dominated sport and we're trying to grow the sport in general and get more people involved.
