Verdict: Man Not Guilty of Attacking Elderly Vet

By: Pieter Bickford
Updated: October 1, 2012
MARTINSBURG, WV - There's a verdict in the trial of the man accused of brutally beating a Vietnam War veteran and his family is pleased with the outcome.

Tyler Munson was found guilty of burglary and robbery but not guilty in the attack, the deliberation took nearly five hours.

The victim, Carroll Snyder, was beaten with a pipe and robbed in his Martinsburg home.  He was not in court Thursday.

There was no reaction in the courtroom as the verdict was read.

Family members told WHAG they are content with the prosecutors job on this case and are very thankful for Trooper Conner's investigation.

Another man, Evan Shirley, has already been convicted in the violent robbery.

The prosecutor told the jury this was an all or nothing kind of case, meaning Munson should be found guilty on all charges or not guilty on all charges.

Meanwhile the defense attorney suggested the state bought Shirley's testimony by giving him a plea bargain.

Munson's sentencing date has been set for November 29th.
