MARTINSBURG, WV - Brickhouse Bar and Grill remained closed a day after 28-year-old Samson Edmond was gunned down in the parking lot.

Police say the former National Guardsman, who had a Purple Heart, was starting a new chapter in Martinsburg.

"He was actually from Mississippi, but we believe he had just obtained a job here," says Lt. Gary Harmison of the Berkeley County Sheriff's Office. "The victim actually fled from where they were fighting."

But he couldn't get away in time. Police say several shots were fired, and Edmond later died at City Hospital.

Police put out an alert on the suspect's vehicle.  It turned up across state lines, in Maryland.

Of the five people in the getaway car that night, sheriff's investigators are currently looking at three of them as possible suspects. But without the weapon, it will come down to the gun residue test to determine which of them was the shooter.

Police are looking for more evidence, and hoping witnesses will help bring justice for the victim.

"We're asking anyone who was parked on the north side of the building that might have even witnessed the fight to come forward," says Harmison.

Without more evidence, police say it could be weeks before the killer will be identified.

If you saw the fight at Brickhouse Bar that night, you're asked to call the Sheriff's Office at (304) 267-7000 or Crime Solvers at (304) 267-4999 and remain anonymous.
