FREDERICK COUNTY, VA - The Winchester Frederick County Economic Development Commission announced the expansion of M&H Plastics.
Organix, L'oreal, and Victoria's Secret are a few of the brands that have their bottles made by M&H Plastics in Winchester.
The leading supplier and manufacturer of plastic packaging for personal and health care products has invested $6.2 million in expanding its 50,000 square foot facility.
"We think that expansions of existing industries are good indicators of the company's satisfaction and relocating here and obviously continuing to stay here," says John Riley, Frederick County Administrator.
The project began in August and it will expand to a 110,000 square feet. This will create 20 new jobs as well as 18 temporary positions.
"We're going to be creating over 20 jobs, some of which have already been hired as we've been expanding already but we will continue to hire as our production needs require," says Kurt Nyberg, CEO of M&H Plastics.
The expanded square foot and facility will have an increase of 100% production capability allowing M&H to maintain its quality and service. The new area will allow faster decorating capabilities.
The company is headquartered in England where it also carries manufacturing operations.
The Frederick County facility is the company's first U.S. manufacturing location and this is its second expansion since a $2 million project back in 2009.
Nyberg adds, "We hope to continue to expand with this particular facility with the potential of another 50,000 square feet and more additional capacity for a production standpoint and bringing more jobs to the Frederick County area."
The facility is currently 65,000 square feet and additional machinery will also be added for production capacity.
The planning for this expansion began in January and the expected date for completion will be in November.
