Paul Espinosa joined the WHAG team as a reporter in May 2011 and transitioned to the Sports department within his first year. He is from Charles Town, West Virginia and is excited to be staying in the four-state area.
Paul got his start in broadcasting in 9th grade at Jefferson High School, where he worked with his fellow students at JCS-TV. He served as the play-by-play announcer for Jefferson football, basketball, and baseball among other sports, and filmed a weekly sports show. He later interned in the sports department at WKYT-27 in Lexington, Kentucky. That was his first taste of life at a television station, and he knew he was in the right profession.
From there, Paul went on to graduate from the Perley Issac School of Journalism at West Virginia University with a degree in Broadcast News. He was an anchor for the award-winning WVU News, a newscast produced by journalism students.
Paul has a passion for horse racing and the Baltimore Orioles, and is just a big sports fan in general. He is looking forward to bringing the four-state the best sports coverage possible.
