WILLIAMSPORT, MD - The town of Williamsport went all out to celebrate "International Talk Like A Pirate Day".  The fun event was all in name of economic development.

In addition to talking like pirates Williamsport also brought in sand to put in the streets, live music, and invited business owners to sell food and crafts in the street.

The Sunday event was designed to be family friendly and bring life into the town center. "We're starting something new with the revitalization of the downtown area, and we thought what better way to start something new with a new type of holiday," said Mike Sparks, the Williamsport Community Director.

"International Talk Like a Pirate Day is every September the 19th.  The holiday was started by two friends in 1995 and gained popularity over the internet.
