Boonsborough Days Is Back

By: Import User
Updated: February 6, 2007
Its a festival aimed to keep the history of Boonsboro alive. From spinners to weavers and even re-enactors, the festival gives folks a chance to take a trip back through history. Wana Heuer from the Boonsboro Historical Society, said that they have "added more demonstrations. Theyre actually demonstrating basket weaving, rug making and room making." But shoppers at the festival arent just looking for a good deal. They are also learning about the arts of craftsmanship first hand. A vendor at Boonsborough Days, Julie Pieper, said that "People who are making the product are right here in the booth selling it, explaining to you how it was done, whether it is making soap, brooms or lace making." Many people say that its a learning experience that cant be bought with money. Bill Johnson goes to the event every year. "Its history and tradition and you need to keep it coming to the next generation so the young ones can look at it and explore." Kyle McKay said he learned a lot from the event. "We rode the horses, and then we made some craft stuff." Julie Pieper added that "Theres so many nice people in the area and everyones in a great mood. [They] bring their dogs and kids. [There are] lots of fun vendors." So if you are in the mood to shop, or simply want to get a taste of homemade food, this years Boonsborough Days will definitely have something for everyone. Gates open at nine AM Sunday morning and close at five PM.
