Detectives with the Jefferson County Sheriffs Department arrested Tara and Brian Elliot on Thursday morning while their children were at school. The investigation has been ongoing since May after officials received a number of tips from residents in the area. When authorities arrived, the couple admitted they cooked and manufactured methamphetamine inside their home. Brian Elliot told officials that he smoked it once and became addicted ever since then. Their two children, age eight and twelve, were taken to Jefferson Memorial Hospital for evaluation to see if they suffered any damage due to exposure to the drug. "Its dangerous; its dangerous to the health, not only to those people using it, but it stays on your clothing. You bring it into your residents and it contaminates everything around you and the people around you. The children are contaminated as well," said Tracy Edwards, Detective in Jefferson County. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for the Elliots in 10 days. They are still in police custody. Each person is on a $250,000 bond.
