The Community Foundation of Frederick County announced this years Wertheimer Fellows on Wednesday morning. The fellowship recognizes Frederick County residents for excellence in volunteerism.
This years honorees included Marlene England, Cecilia Bach, and Jane and Charles Smith. Each honoree will receive a $10,000 award to go towards a special endowment fund.
"Its a wonderful opportunity to give back. I certainly have been blessed my whole life long. So, this means a lot to me to give back. I think any volunteer would tell you that you get a lot in return," said England. "
It feels good to help people and try to empower them to be able to help themselves," said Cecilia Bach, 2006 Wertheimer fellow. "A lot of people have different hobbies, places they go, hunting, fishing, or whatever. I guess volunteering has been our hobby," said Charles Smith, 2006 Wertheimer Fellows.
This years Wertheimer fellows will be formally recognized at the Community Foundations annual report in mid-November.
