Updated: February 6, 2007
Emeilio Rodriguez is charged with shooting at Tyrone Wheeler. Detectives said theres no connection between the death of Trisiviah Rodriguez and the shooting incident involving her father. Two weeks ago the community was shocked when the mother of a four-year-old was murdered on the streets of Hagerstown. Just weeks before the tragic death of Rodriguez police said her father, Emeilio was allegedly involved in another shooting. He allegedly fired shots at Wheeler on Bethune Avenue "I dont feel one way or the other about that, thats in gods hands, Im glad god blessed me not to get hit with the bullet," said Wheeler. Wheelers daughter told him a Hispanic man had been chasing her. Wheeler confronted Emeilio Rodriguez and Hipolito Jimenez about pursuing his daughter. "She was chased by some guy and when she identified the other guy, I had no choice but to hit him," said Wheeler. Police said Rodriguez pulled out a gun and began shooting at Wheeler. "I ducked one way and ducked the other way. I guess I must have had an angel on my shoulder," said Wheeler. Rodriguez is being held at the Washington County Detention Center awaiting a preliminary hearing. Detectives said the death of his daughter and this incident are not related. "There is no information that comes forward that directly ties these two together," said Detective Casey Yonkers, Hagerstown Police Department. "My sympathy goes out to him and his family, its a sad thing to happen," said Wheeler. The preliminary hearing will be held in the coming weeks. Meanwhile investigators have Demetrius McDaniels in custody for Rodriguez death and they continue to search for Raheen Edwin, a second suspect.
