The power of the healing waters became widely known, even enticing George Washington to sample the mineral springs when he came to survey the land. Washington visited the springs on more than one occasion. Jeanne Mozier worked for the CIA before she came to Berkeley Springs almost 30 years ago, and since then, she has made the town her job and served on several boards. She has served on The Washington Heritage Trail, the Morgan Arts Council, the Chamber of Commerce, Travel Berkeley Springs, and several others as well. Mozier has also managed to find time to pen several books, including the travel guide called "Way Out in West Virginia." She is running the Star Theater, which she and her husband opened in 1977. She is the voice of the Apple Butter Festival and one of the creators of the Berkeley Springs International Water Tasting Festival. The first thing that comes to most peoples minds when they hear Berkeley Springs are the spas, which are a big driver behind local tourism. The bubbling spring in Berkeley Springs promises health and stress relief. Eddies Tire started in Berkeley Springs in 1951. Eddies now has grown to 10 locations throughout the Four State Region. Eddies is still family-owned and operated; its one of the few independently owned tire dealers in the country. It now services brakes, alignments, and shocks, and everything under the car. Eddies owners said they are proud to support the town of Berkeley Springs.
