On Tuesday morning, Rendell arrived at Manitowoc Crane Group with $600,000 and 241 new jobs.
More than 1200 employees gathered to hear the governor announce the new positions and the funding that would go towards updating equipment and new facilities at the Shady Grove plant.
Rendell said grant money will be given to companies that have shown solid growth while making investments in the community.
"It used to be we competed against Maryland, West Virginia, Ohio, New York and New Jersey, but now we compete against Singapore, Korea, Japan, India and China. Those countries highly subsidize their industries, so for us to make things a little easier by investing in growth and expansion, helps sort of balance the playing field and its important we keep doing that," said Gov. Ed Rendell, (D) PA.
The governor also made a stop in Adams County at Irvin Orchard, where he presented the owner with a check for almost $300,000 to help sustain the 565 acres of land.
