Fire Officials Say More Homes Need Fire Sprinklers in Frederick County

By: Import User
Updated: February 6, 2007
The Frederick County Board of Commissioners will hear from the public Tuesday night on an ordinance requiring fire sprinklers in one and two-family homes under construction and on all new mobile homes. The proposed ordinance does not apply to Frederick city residents or homes built before the current sprinkler ordinance. Officials said fire sprinklers can help residents buy a little extra time to get out if their home catches fire. Houses that are on well systems should be subjected to the same measures as people who are on public water systems. "A house is a house, and we want to protect the lives of everybody, not just one particular group," said Mike Dmuchowski, Battalion Chief, Fire & Rescue. The public hearing starts at 7 oclock in Winchester Hall.
