Under Ehrlichs administration Carroll Creek Park got $1.7 million in grant money from the state.
The project is one of six priority places in Maryland where the state uses its resources to develop areas that need economic rejuvenation.
Its one of Ehrlichs smart growth initiatives. One part of the project is known as Carroll Creek Linear Park.
The money went towards beautifying the area. The multi million dollar project was started about two years ago.
Since then you can see the developments of the new amphitheater, a new community bridge as well as a pedestrian bridge and several commercial and residential properties.
The governor thanked the local leaders of Frederick for their guidance in this project.
"We believe in local government. We believe that you know best about this city, we have put programs and dollars in place to help you so its a combination of working with local government, county government," said Ehrlich.
The next part of the project is to extend the park to Patrick Street.
The mayor said that wont be under construction until 2008.
