Dozens of people packed San Mars campus on Tuesday. Inside, they toured the new emergency shelter and enjoyed an informal dinner.
The shelter has ten bedrooms, spacious lounge areas and a bathroom. It will house 12 girls at a time.
Workers at San Mar raised more than 900-thousand-dollars for the new building. The Dr. Henry F. & Florence Hill Graff shelter for girls is named after one of their largest donors and her husband who has passed.
Florence Graff said that "Just the thought of helping one girl, and well help so many, Its just such a wonderful idea. And, now at age 90, its nice to know that I can go peacefully."
San Mars CEO, Bruce Anderson, said the emergency shelter is expected to open July 13th. They are still accepting donations to reach their one point two million dollar goal.
