UPDATE: More Residents Asked to Conserve Water

By: Import User
Updated: October 9, 2006
Officials are urging even more folks to not use their water. Acting Mayor Cindy Cook told NBC25 in order to find the origin of the leak, they must not run out of water from the tanks. The leak began Thursday. There are several tankers positioned around town where you can find clean water. One tanker is located on King Street in front of Town Hall. Another tanker is located in the parking lot of Cress Creek Country Club. A third is located at Food Lion on Route 45. Portable toilets are also scattered around town. One is located in the Mecklenberg Heights neighborhood, another is in front of Town Hall, and a third is on Audrey Eagle Drive in front of the train station. While the water is not considered contaminated, if you do drink your tap water, youre asked to boil it for one minute before hand just in case any debris from the bottom of the tank comes through your tap. The water department and two leak-detector companies are investigating the matter. For more information on the state of emergency you can call Town Hall at (304) 876-2398 or click on Water Leak Information.
