New High School Underway in Frederick County

The $70 million project will be built near the Eagle Head development at Lake Linganore.
School planning officials said Oakdale will be a bigger replica of Tuscarora High, making it the biggest high school in Frederick County.
Officials said the construction of this high school will help Frederick County keep up with the rapid growth and the overcrowding of students at Linganore High.
Once Oakdale High opens Linganore High will be closed for renovations.
"Ultimately the students that will be attending Oakdale are the combination students who are currently at Linganore now and some students who are currently attending Urbana and Thomas James High," said Ray Barnes, from Frederick Co. Schools.
Ground breaking is expected to begin later this summer and the high school is scheduled to open for the 2008 to 2009 school year.
