Congratulations to the NBC25 Student Athletes of the Month.  The male Student Athlete of the Month is Will Murray, a senior at Saint Maria Goretti High School.  A letter winner in basketball and baseball for the Gaels, Will was named team captain for both teams this year.

"To me, 'student-athlete' means schoolwork comes first, and the extracurriculars come second," said Will.

Off the field, Will carries a 4.38 GPA., is a member of the National Honor Society, participates in student government, and was elected homecoming king his senior year.  After high school, Will plans to attend the University of Richmond.

"I'm majoring in business administration," said Will.  "I figure that could possibly open some doors for me."

The female Student Athlete of the Month is Meghan McSherry, a senior at Smithsburg High School.  Meghan has lettered in volleyball and lacrosse for the Leopards, captains this year's lacrosse team, and was named as an Academic All-American for 2009.

"It's just always been easy because I've played sports so long.  It's just always been school, and then sports.  They just kind of go together for me.  Always," said Meghan.

Off the field, Meghan maintains a 4.0 GPA., is a member of the National Honor Society, and is active in student government and the Future Business Leaders of America.  After high school, Meghan plans on continuing her athletic career in college.

"I'm going to Belmont Abbey College in North Carolina.  I'm going to play lacrosse there," said Meghan.

Congratulations to Will Murray and Meghan McSherry, the NBC25 Student Athletes of the Month.
