The grade of insulation makes a big difference. It's your lifetime mortgage that's affected by it. What's a lifetime mortgage? It's a utility bill. You never pay off your utilities. They're always going to send you a bill every month, and you want it to be as low as possible.
To better insulate a home and to keep the utility bills low:
* Use a 2x6 exterior wall instead of a 2x4.
* Since a 2x6 wall has more room, you can use R-19 insulation.
* Attic insulation
is measured by how deep it is.
* In the attic, use R-38 insulation.
* If you don't have enough insulation in the attic, add some using insulation that you can find at a hardware store and a blower that you can rent.
