Frederick County Public School Board Appoints New Member

FREDERICK COUNTY, VA- The Frederick County Virginia School Board has appointed a new board member, Frank Wright. Just last month Wright was also appointed the new Fire Chief of the Winchester Fire and Rescue Department.
Wright has been appointed to fill the vacant Stonewall District seat on the board after representative Melvin "Jim" Harmon passed away last month.
Wright served on the board before as the Shawnee District representative from January 1997 through December 1997.
As a life-long resident of the Winchester-Frederick County area Wright believes his experiences and background in public education and public service will help him in the new position.
Wright retired in 2010 as the Chief of the Winchester Fire and Rescue Department after serving 35 years. However, he was recently named the city's Interim Fire Chief until a new chief is hired.
The school board says three others applied for the position.
