WASHINGTON COUNTY, MD- Walking across the country in memory of his wife who lost her battle to Ovarian Cancer, that's the journey of a Pennsylvania man, who's trying to promote awareness of the disease.

On Thursday, Dave Brown from the Philadelphia area made his way into Washington County.

Brown was joined by Anne Dittrich from Sharpsburg and her two dogs along his walk on Route 40 from Boonsboro to Hagerstown.

Brown is going around the country explaining to people the signs and symptoms, and the importance of early detection. He says this is all to honor his wife Joan Brown.. who lost the fight and to raise funds for Ovarian Cancer research.

"Only one in 75 women get it, but it is a devastating disease. It's nasty and anybody who is associated with ovarian cancer at all has come out of the woodwork to come out and greet me," says Brown.

His walk started on February 28th in Atlantic City and he expects to end in San Francisco on October 12, on Columbus day.

The walk will cover nearly 3,000 miles. Click here for more information about the cause.
