WINTER STORM WATCH for the areas in blue from Tuesday night into Wednesday night for the potential of 5"+ of a heavy, wet snow.

TODAY: Partly cloudy to mostly sunny with a chilly northwest wind at 10-20 mph. Winds could occasionally gust up to 30 mph. Highs will be in the upper 30s to near 40, but wind chills will be in the 20s at times.

TONIGHT: Mostly clear and cold with lows in the low 20s.

TUESDAY: Sun gives way to clouds with highs in the mid 40s. A heavy, wet snow develops overnight.

WEDNESDAY: Heavy snow with a low pressure tracking to our south in North Carolina and Southern Virginia. Several inches are likely with 5"+ expected. The farther south you go, toward the Potomac Highlands and Shenandoah Valley, the more snow you will see. The wind picks up during the afternoon. Highs will be in the mid 30s.

THURSDAY: Partly cloudy and breezy with highs in the upper 30s.

FRIDAY: Mostly sunny and a bit warmer with highs in the low 40s.

SATURDAY: It's mostly sunny with a high of 47. Don't forget we "spring forward" and turn the clocks ahead Saturday night for Daylight Saving Time.

SUNDAY: Mostly sunny and mild. High near 50.
