HAGERSTOWN, MD- Many came together in support for Bowl for the Cure to raise awareness about Breast Cancer.
"I just think woman should examine their breasts once a month to mark sure you know there's nothing in there," says Dottie Hill of Frederick.
It was Christmas eve 1999 when Dottie Hill says she felt a knot in her breast, and later found out the tumor was cancerous.
Thirteen years later she's Bowling for the Cure, with all her supporters.
"I'm here with all my friends, my husband, and I'm just glad I'm here," says Hill.
"Someone I knew that was very young, very beautiful died from Breast Cancer, leaving behind a toddle and of course a husband. It's just not right this has to end," says Judi Quelland, who serves on the Bowl for the Cure Committee
Bowlers say whatever people can do to help is important. They're reminding both women, and men to do self breast exams.
"Anything we can do to support any finding a cure for any kind of Cancer is going to be a benefit. I think breast cancer of course is very important, one of the bowlers on our team is a breast cancer survivor," says Pat Rossiter, a Volunteer at Bowl for the Cure.
Hill has worked at a
high school in
"I just thank God everyday that I'm here, I've got a new grand baby on the way, it's my first and I just thank god everyday," says Hill.
Organizers say more than 200 people came out, and they raised nearly 15 thousand dollars.
