CHARLESTON, WV- West Virginia Transportation and more than 40 other groups gathered on Thursday to highlight the challenges facing the state's transportation system.

Members of the Governor's Blue Ribbon Commission say there are many road that need to be addressed in the eastern panhandle.

Members say one of the biggest challenges they're currently facing is creating enough funds for the roads and interstates.

"It's going to cost us to have to look hard and deep to find the necessary funding," says Joe Deneault, WVBT, Blue Ribbon Commission. "You know frankly our legislatures, at some point, are going to be asked to make hard votes on just how we're going to fund the investment that needs to be made in transportation."

West Virginians for Better Transportation, is a statewide coalition that works to educate the maintenance and safety of transportation.
