Cumberland Man Arrested After Displaying Gun at Passing Car

By: Ciara Brown
Updated: February 14, 2013
CUMBERLAND, MD- Cumberland Police arrested a man today after he displayed a handgun to a passing vehicle.

Police say they received a 911 phone call around 12:26 p.m. from a motorist who was involved in a road rage incident.

The caller told police that a Chevrolet Tahoe had passed their vehicle in a no-passing zone on Route 35 in Pennsylvania, just before the Maryland state line.

The caller told police as the Tahoe came to their side of the vehicle, the front seat passenger displayed a small dark colored handgun. The caller was able to describe the vehicle in detail and tell police the licence plate number.

Police were able to locate the vehicle on Route 40 at Wills Creeks and arrested James Dennen Jr., of Fairhope, Pa.

Police found a black and green 9mm Kel-tec handgun in Deneen's jacket. Police say the handgun was unloaded but the magazine for the firearm was also in his pocket loaded with seven 9mm rounds.

Dennen is charged with possession of a handgun in a motor vehicle and wear/carrying a handgun.

Flipping the bird would have sufficed and he wouldn't be in any trouble!

We have no way of knowing who did what here, but operating a moving vehicle is not the time or place for throwing temper tantrums. Perhaps the driver with the gun was tailgating. I, too, like to travel the speed limit when the road conditions and weather allow, but when a bully with no knowledge of physics insists on following within a couple of feet, I begin to slow down. I another driver chooses to threaten to run over me, If get to choose the speed of our potential collision. Now I'm just trying to figure out how a person from Fairhope, PA, can be a "Cumberland" man.

It was probably some SOB traveling 20mph on a two lane road. I sympathize with the poor people who get behind these inconsiderate pigs who refuse to even go the speed limit, or use the passing lane as their own private thoroughfare. It's enough to make anyone outraged!
