The Frederick Campus of Mount Saint Mary's University is getting 12,000 square feet of new space. Currently, the building is 16,000 square feet.
"Basically this is driven by the growth of our programs, and we need more classroom space and office space," says Joe Lebherz, director of the Mount's Frederick Campus.
The addition will include five classrooms, office space, a bookstore, a new entrance, and student lounge.
"It's just providing us access to more space so that we can better serve the community and offer programs that working adults need," says Gregory Ochoa, dean of the Mount's Frederick Campus.
At least one of the classrooms should be completed by March.
"This just allows us to provide more programs and more services to adults in the area," Ochoa says. "Many of our students work in the area and travel somewhere else, so they take classes on their way home or work out of the area, and they're coming through."
The grand reopening is scheduled for April 17th.
