Police say it happened in the area of the New Page Warehouse in Westernport.
Police say 18-year-old Anthony Ashby, of Oakland, Md., was driving a 2000 Subaru Legacy down Route 135 when his vehicle spun out of control and collided into an oncoming motorist who was traveling in the opposite direction.
They say four people were taken to Western Maryland Regional Hospital for treatment. A passenger in Ashby's vehicle sustained life-threatening injuries and was listed in critical condition as of Monday night.
Police say the other three people have been released from the hospital.
Police say the cause of the accident was weather related. They say Ashby's vehicle had spun out due to snow and ice covering the roadways.
The Sheriff's Office was assisted at the scene by members of the Tri-Towns and Rescue Squad and New Creek Fire and Rescue Squad from Mineral County, W. Va.
No charges will be filed in this incident.
