Police say the snow and slick roads were likely the cause.
One of the vehicles was a 2001 Ford pick-up driven by Paul Stansbury. Police say he lost control, crossed the median and struck a five-axle truck, driven by Jerry Negley, head-on.
Police tell us Stansbury was taken to Western Maryland Health with life threatening injuries, but is now in stable condition.
Meanwhile the other driver suffered only minor injuries.
The Interstate was closed for about two hours.
