"I'm a dog and a cat lover. I actually purchased a heart in memory of my senior dog Belle that I adopted from here who just recently passed away; she was the best dog ever," says Marcy Gallow, kennel director at The Warren County Humane Society.
In memory of her dog, Gallow took part in the humane society's campaign by purchasing a heart to hang in the shelter.
"We are giving away hearts for a donation of five dollars. You can decorate the hearts, you can place them around the building or you can take your heart home and we'll also be giving out little packets of Dalmatian stickers with each heart," adds Gallow.
It has been their second year of doing the fundraiser and so far, 50 hearts have been sold in one day.
Gallow says, "Adoption specials always bring in publicity and potential adopters and any way that we can get an animal into a home is great and we continuously fundraiser throughout the year."
The campaign will be helping the local animals find a home, a step closer to them being a best friend to an owner.
The shelter is open six days a week and the campaign will run until Valentine's Day.
