BERKELEY COUNTY, WV- Some parts in the four-state area were left with large amounts of water after Wednesday's heavy rain storm. Certain areas were hit hard and officials are warning residents to watch out while driving.

"I was just driving through to see what the flooding would look like today," says Barry Duke, a resident.

Although the rainstorm has past, it left its mark on parts of the region with numerous road closures.

"We've had many incidents where people tried to drive through standing waters and they had to be rescued by the local fire and rescue EMS personnel," says Steve Allen, Berkeley County Emergency Management.

One area hit hard by the storm was near the Opequon Creek and nearby Douglas Grove Road.

"The road's closed down and out of the banks for sure," says Barry Duke, a resident.

Allen says two feet of water is enough to float away most vehicles. His motto is, 'Turn around, don't drown!' He says you want to be especially careful in the evening when it's harder to see the water level.

"You want to make sure that at night you make sure you're going at a lower speed so you would be able to stop before you get too far into the water," says Allen.

The Berkeley County area received about two inches of rain.
