"This is actually an annual event that we do every year around the end of January. It's a Vera Bradley basket bingo and it's been very very successful in the past; it's just amazing how the community turns out," says Deborah Lauricella, Easter Seals activities director.
Easter Seals, an organization known for assisting those with disabilities, received a $9,000 check.
"What we do is we help people with disabilities and all types of disabilities. They are all ages from 20s to 90s. It should bear in mind too that it can be any one of us at any given time and some of our folks have been in traumatic accidents," adds Lauricella.
The Kris Kringle Show held this past November selected Easter Seals as their 2012 recipient.
"It also means that we do help over 60 something people in our center. This helps to enhance our program; it helps sometimes to help people get into our program that don't qualify any other way," adds Lauricella.
The community played bingo to support the cause, with chances of winning gift baskets and Vera Bradley purses.
Lauricella says the large support will help not only the disabled, but also military and veterans.
All of the proceeds will go towards enhancing the program at the Easter Seals Center and their goal was to raise $6,000.
