FREDERICK, MD- Karen Young (D), President of the Board of Alderman has announced she will now run for mayor for the city of Frederick.

Young broke the news Friday night at the Hampton Inn in Frederick. Family, close friends and supporters attended the reception.

Young says while Frederick is in a good place now, it's been in a deadlock and she wants to keep it moving forward.

Young spoke about developing and reducing areas in the city, and about increasing business in the area. She says her experience and values will help her success as mayor if elected.

"Where the majority of our residents have the opportunity to work in the fulfilling jobs right here at home in Frederick, we'll accomplish this through industry diversity, a business friendly environment, private and public partnerships, and a workforce that's trained for the growth of the future," says Young.

Young also says she wants to make the city cleaner and greener.
