MERCERSBURG, PA - The Mercersburg Police Department says a woman had more than $1,000 taken from her in valuables and ATM withdrawals after someone stole her purse and wallet from inside her vehicle.

It happened around 7 a.m. on January 13.

Police say Amber Elaine Horner, 30, of Mercersburg, had parked her 1993 Ford pickup truck along the west side of Linden Avenue.

Horner told police she had left her wallet and pocketbook inside the vehicle, and thought she had locked the door. About two hours later Horner was leaving to go to work when she noticed her door was unlocked and the items missing.

Police say it was discovered Horner's ATM card was used at the Susquehanna Bank on North Main Street in Mercersburg. Police say they think the thieves obtained the PIN for the account from a piece of paper in Horner's wallet.

Police are still investigating. Anyone with information on this crime is asked to contact the Mercersburg Police Department at 328-0150.
