MARYLAND - A state task force report is asking for new rules regarding guns and the mentally ill in Maryland.

The recommendations include anyone found to be a threat by police, an educator or licensed health care provider, should have their guns taken away.

The task force is also asking for increased training of police and school personnel on how to identify mental illness patterns and creating crisis intervention teams that would be trained to handle emergencies involving the mentally ill.

The entire report was sent to the governor and other legislative leaders who are expected to discuss new gun laws during the 2013 session scheduled to begin next week.
