"Going Green" with Your Christmas Tree

FREDERICK, MD - The holidays are behind us, and now there are more ways than ever to discard your Christmas tree.

You can recycle your tree at 11 locations throughout Frederick County, Md. Recycling in Frederick city continues through January 11 and through January 28 in the county.

Last year Frederick city recycled almost 4,000 Christmas trees.

Those with the city say recycling your tree helps not only the environment, but it also allows the park program to save money by not having to buy as much mulch.

"The trees we collect we grind up and recycle them into our park program where we have planted trees, along the street, our flower beds, and our planting beds," says Jim Wheeldon, Superintendent with Frederick Park.
