Martinsburg City Police say they responded to the 100 block of South Georgia Avenue around 3 a.m. after getting a call that a woman with a gun was threatening another woman.
Police say when they arrived a woman came out of the home pointing a hand gun at them. Both officers fired their weapons, striking 47-year-old Tiffany Overholser.
Police say other people at the house had been sleeping and that there was no confrontation taking place, as the caller had described.
Overholser was pronounced dead at Martinsburg City Hospital.
It was also found that Overholser was the one who had called Police. Family members told police Overholser had previously attempted suicide on several occasions in the past.
A motive for Overholser's actions is still being investigated. Both officers involved in the incident have been placed on paid administrative leave.
