SHEPHERDSTOWN, WV - Dozens of firefighters worked to contain a house fire in Shepherdstown.

Dispatchers say the call came in around 2:30 Saturday afternoon. The building, on the 200 block of West German street, is reported to be a private home.

Firefighters went in to see if anyone was entrapped but were called out over fears the building would collapse. They were later able to put it out and clean up the scene.

There are no injuries reported. The smoke from the fire ran through surrounding areas. Part of West German Street was closed for hours. It's not clear what caused the fire.

Comments

The report is in accurate. The fire was at 302 West German St. and was the Home of Proffessor Carl Bell. Not in the 200 block and a student boarding house. I live 2 housed from the scene and am a member of Shepherdstown Volunteer Fire Dept.
