HAGERSTOWN, MD- Thursday was a special day for many low-income parents in Washington County, they'll now be able to provide their families with a very happy holiday season.

It was all thanks to a toy giveaway in Hagerstown.  More than a 1,000 Washington County parents who couldn't afford gifts had a chance to pick out free toys for their kids this holiday season.

The toys were donated by the local community. The effort was made possible through the Salvation Army and Washington County Marine Corp League Toys For Tots campaign.

"Nothing feels better, than to be able to help people who are in need.  The way the economy is, with high unemployment, there are a lot of new families coming this year who are in need of toys," says Karen Lyle of the Salvation Army.

The toy donations were contributed by more than a 1,000 families and businesses in Washington County.
