Officials say Washington County Sheriff's deputies will be increasing their presence at all county schools.
Deputies will be making periodic stops and going inside schools to reassure students, parents, and staff that everyone is safe. They say this is all to reassure that a similar event won't happen in the county.
"There are performing their normal duty days also, it's been stressed that we want to reassure the community, reassure the parents, reassure the school teachers and staff that we are there," says Deputy First Class Carly Hose, Public Information Officer for the Washington County Sheriff's Office.
Deputies will be making periodic stops at the schools until the holiday break.
